Yellowtail Damselfish

Hello my name is David Contreraz I am 19 years old and have just recently completed my first year of college at MCC. I’ve had a passion for marine biology for as long as I can remember, so naturally I jumped at the the chance to become scuba certified and conduct scientific research. The title of my research project is “Yellowtail damselfish, Chrysiptera parasema, abundance and percent algal coverage in coral reef communities of Roatan, Honduras.” Hopefully my project is a success as well as the projects of everyone else … if only I could stop getting sea sick.

One Response to Yellowtail Damselfish

  1. David: I am the Geology Field Course instructor at MCC and would be there with you guys if we were not traveling for our course as well. I am advanced certified diver with a coral reef ecology certification. I noted you mentioned algae. Explain why the population count of damselfish could be an important indicator of algae or why the damselfish is present in the coral reef community. Elaine
